Originating in Egypt, colour therapy, also known as chromotherapy or colour healing, is a holistic approach that utilizes different colours to promote physical, emotional, and mental well-being. While this practice is often associated with human health, did you know that colour therapy can have a profoundly beneficial effect on our pets? Let’s explore how colour therapy can be used to enhance the overall well-being of your pets in a simple and gentle way.
1. Understanding Colour Therapy
Scientific research has proven that each colour in the light spectrum has its own measurable wavelength and frequency bringing with it its own unique healing property.
Colour light therapy specifically, where special lighting of appropriate colours is used, will stimulate the body’s ability to self-heal, self maintain and self-regulate
Even without the use of special lights, colours still give off frequencies. Sure, as far as the "healing" itself goes colours alone may not be as powerful when compared to using coloured lighting, however, something is better than nothing, right? I'm sure you've experienced the effect of a certain coloured room - take red for example. It's far more stimulating than a blue room and there's a reason restaurant owners choose red within their decor - to stimulate the appetite.
Much like crystal healing colour therapy is based on the idea that because each colour has its own unique frequency, when we expose certain colours to our furry friends those colours will have a specific effect on our pets influencing their mood and overall health.
Due to the fact colour therapy works primarily through the energy field, even if a colour cannot be seen, it will still have an effect. When the right colours are chosen colour therapy restores balance in the energy field which then creates a positive effect at the physical level of our much-loved pets
In an ideal situation, we'd all have the ability to apply colour therapy for our pets using special lighting, however, this lighting is hard to come by not to mention expensive so providing your pet with colours you believe will help within its environment is a great alternative

2. Selecting the Right Colours
Colours can be used to treat a variety of conditions from the physical to the metaphysical
A great way to choose which colour to use for a particular physical condition is to find out the associated chakra
Our pets have 9 major chakras:

Root: Red / base of spine
Sexual progression (sacral): Orange / lower abdomen
Solar Plexus: Yellow / mid-spine
Heart: Green (or pink) / centre of the heart
Brachial: Black / either side of their lower neck just in front of the shoulder blades
Throat: Sky blue / throat area
Sensing: Silver blue / between the tip of the nose and the eyes
Brow: Indigo / centre of the forehead above the eyes
Crown: Purple/violet / top of head
Each chakra is associated with different parts of the physical body as well as specific emotional, mental, and spiritual aspects of consciousness. An easy way to think of which chakra may need healing is to think about the location of the physical ailment
For example, if your pet is having issues that have to do with digestion then using the colour yellow which is associated with the solar plexus chakra may be beneficial. The solar plexus is located about mid spine which is pretty much in line with the location of the stomach
All colours have psychological and therapeutic properties so you might like to choose a colour for your pet based on these. Below is a PDF you can download but in general cooler tones like blues and greens are known to have a relaxing effect, while warmer tones like reds and yellows can be more stimulating.
There are also 12 colour rays that heal at a metaphysical level, eliminating negative energy to be replaced with positive.

* Intersting Fact: It’s been scientifically proven that cells communicate through the visible colour spectrum (rainbow colours), microwaves, and ultraviolet light.
Every pet has unique preferences, so should you choose to try out colour therapy be sure to observe how your pet reacts to different colours. There are situations where an animal reacts negatively to a colour. Perhaps it associates the colour to a negative experience. In this case, there would be a need for your pet to be balanced to that colour (which can be done via an energetic healing session)

3. Simple ways to use colour therapy
Start by integrating the chosen colors into your pet's environment. You can do this using:
- blankets
- bedding
- toys
- collars
- clothes
- coloured mats
- cushions in their favorite spots
- coloured light globe in a lamp
- gemstones (large enough to not be consumed)
- Candles (non toxic)
- Crystal or glass prisms hung in windows or their living area
Allow your pet to choose and interact with the colours that appeal to them the most.
And let's not forget - Outdoor Exposure: Nature provides a wide array of colors that can naturally influence your pet's well-being. Take your pet for walks in green, lush parks or areas with a variety of flowers and foliage. Spending time in natural surroundings can have a positive impact on their mood and overall health.

4. Observing Reactions
Pay close attention to how your pet reacts to different colours. Do they seem to be responding in a way that's desired for the condition you are helping them with? For example, are they relaxed around certain colours or more playful and energetic around others? This observation will guide you in determining which colors are best suited for your pet.

5. Consult a Professional
If you're unsure about which colours might benefit your pet or how to best implement colour therapy, consult with a veterinarian or an animal behaviorist. They can provide tailored recommendations based on your pet's individual needs and preferences. As an animal energetic healer, I am able to advise you of any colour your pet may need should the need for colour therapy come up within a healing session
Conclusion:
Color therapy is a gentle and non-invasive way to enhance your pet's well-being. By incorporating specific colours into their environment and observing their reactions, you can create an atmosphere that contributes to your pet's overall happiness and health. Always prioritize your pet's comfort and preferences when experimenting with colour therapy, and enjoy the positive effects it can bring to your beloved furry companion.
